Market Focus : Analysis and prospects for value added services in the European Quadruple Play market
With the decline in the value of the fixed telephony in Europe and the rapid expansion of the mobile market, which is certainly impressive in volume terms but disappointing from a value standpoint, average monthly revenue per user is running out of steam. In a difficult economic and competitive context, the constant quest for improved ARPU is turning into something of a Holy Grail.
Representing total sales in excess of 16 billion dollars in 2006 with annual growth of over 80%, analysts are pointing to the broadband market for value added services for end users as THE ideal solution for ensuring ROI for technological investments.

Zoom : Focus on the Internet box ecosystem
By opting to include up to four USB ports in its home platform, Bewan is giving operators the possibility of developing a host of customer services, such as local or remote file and printer accessibility and sharing, video surveillance system control and immediate, continuous access to the Internet. |
Advantages
New subscribers can connect to the Internet straight away
When users sign up to a DSL subscription, their first experience of using the Box will be crucial to their overall judgment of the service.
With the Bewan iBox, there’s no need for eager new subscribers to wait around for their DSL line to be activated – they can get online straight away, as soon as they receive their home terminal. All that's needed is a 3G/3G+ key, connected directly to the Bewan iBox. The user can connect to the Internet immediately, whilst waiting for their DSL line to be activated. As soon as the line is activated, the 3G/DSL switchover is automatic and transparent for the user.
Continuity of service
DSL line connection stability is the ultimate yardstick by which end users judge the performance of their ISP. Dropped connections mean unhappy customers. With the Bewan iBox, continuity of service is assured. The box supports the 3G/3G+ USB key, allowing the user's connection to be switched automatically to 3G in the event their DSL line goes down. The whole operation is totally transparent for the subscriber, and the user experience positive.
