Unified software for all types of platforms

All Bewan home gateways use the same software. Thanks to several abstraction layers, the Bewan embedded software is suited to any type of hardware platform and can provide an identical level of service for any components and gateway design.

Portability

Bewan designs and fully develops its unified BSP (Board Support Package), thereby ensuring total independence. By defining a hardware abstraction layer, Bewan software can overcome any hardware constraint and associated pilots.
This hierarchical design, associated with complete control of the realisation allows Bewan middleware to support new hardware quickly, only modifying the low levels of the software. The system and service layers remain unchanged and the level of service and functionalities are still identical, with any hardware platform used.

Robustness and service richness

The embedded Bewan software is now deployed in several hundred thousand home gateways in many countries. All this firmware comes from the same, communal software body.
The new services developed are, therefore, instantaneously available for all the platforms.
In addition, all the corrections and improvements derived from client experiences are used to the advantage of the unified software. Consequently, they are also applied to all platforms.
This approach allows the Bewan embedded software to be tried and tested now and rich in functionalities.

Many hardware platforms, one unified software

There are many benefits to unified software:
• Unified software allows the operator to standardise his range of VAS in a set of heterogeneous residential gateway platforms.
• Unified software allows the operator to have a joint interface with all deployed hardware platforms. All the installed network gateways are therefore able to be managed remotely (by TR-069) in the same way and transparently, whichever model is used.
• Unified software offers end-users the same graphic interface and the same services, for any hardware platform. The user experience is, therefore, the same for the entire installed base.

The Bewan software supports several components (ADSL processors, voice components, modules, switches, HUB USB, …) and is capable of generating embedded software for many software platforms by simply selecting the necessary software bricks. The same service level is proposed for each of these platforms.

With the Bewan software, an operator may deploy a wide variety of hardware platforms integrating different components and/or components from various suppliers, whilst managing them in the same way by implementing the TR-069 protocol. In addition, the operator proposes identical interfaces and services to all its subscribers, whatever home gateway is used.
